Job summary

STV currently has an opening in our Glasgow, Lexington, Owensboro or Louisville, KY locations for a Roadway Engineering Specialist in our Transportation & Infrastructure division. The role collaborates with a team of engineers to perform geometric roadway design, prepare drawings, calculations, quantities, and specifications for transportation projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• EIT is required, with a desire to obtain a KY PE.
• Roadway and drainage design experience required.
• Experience with MicroStation and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Open Roads Designer.
• Familiarity with KYTC or DOT is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Providing professional design services for transportation projects for KYTC, DOT and others.
• Developing design plans including horizontal/vertical alignment, cross sections, staging, erosion control, signing and pavement marking.
• Coordinating with the design team to meet schedules and budgets.
• Working on fast-paced Design-Build/CMGC teams.
• Assisting with development of specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages.
• Interfacing with client staff and project managers.
• Assisting with preparation of technical and cost proposals.

Job description

STV currently has an opening in our Glasgow, Lexington, Owensboro or Louisville, KY locations for a Roadway Engineering Specialist for our Transportation & Infrastructure division. The Roadway engineering specialist will collaborate with a team of engineers to perform geometric roadway design, prepare drawings, calculations, quantities, and specifications for transportation projects. There is plenty of growth potential for this position, and there is a variety of projects to work on including bridge replacements, roadway widenings, innovative intersection designs, bicycle/pedestrian improvements, and highway and interchange design. This position requires collaboration with other disciplines including planning, environmental, hydraulics, and structures. A successful candidate will have a strong desire to meet and/or exceed client expectations and will work efficiently to provide project deliverables.

What You Will Do

• Providing professional design services for transportation and other projects for KYTC, DOT and other transportation agencies
• Developing design plans including horizontal and vertical alignment, and cross sections, construction staging, erosion control, signing and pavement marking plans
• Coordinating with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget
• Work on fast-paced alternative delivery teams (Design-Build, CMGC, etc)
• Assisting with the development of specifications, cost estimates, reports and preparing final bid packages
• Establishing working relationships and interfacing with client technical staff and project managers
• Assisting with the preparation of technical and cost proposals

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering is required
• EIT Required, and a desire to obtain a KY PE
• Roadway and drainage design experience required
• Experience with MicroStation, and Microsoft Office Suite, Familiarity with Open Roads Designer
• Familiarity with KYTC or DOT a plus

Compensation Range

$64,848.58 - $74,112.66
