Overview

GFT is seeking a Roadway Engineering Project Manager / Team Lead to join our Transportation Team in Omaha, NE.

Working on the Transportation team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. Our team specializes in resilient, sustainable design and construction, delivering innovative solutions for modern, multimodal roadway systems.

Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do: This role is suitable for an emerging or established engineering leader with experience in roadway engineering and project management. Responsibilities include designing and preparing plan submittals for highway and arterial roadway projects, complex intersection design, bridge replacement/rehabilitation, traffic and drainage design for various DOTs and municipal agencies.

  • Manage projects related to transportation facilities such as freeways, arterials, intersections, and drainage.
  • Lead a Design Team to produce plans, specifications, and cost estimates; oversee engineering reports and calculations.
  • Participate in planning and design functions; communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
  • Review shop drawings and answer construction phase questions.
  • Support and develop team members through meetings, mentorship, and performance reviews.
  • Manage labor projections, resource allocation, project budgets, and quality assurance.
  • Coordinate with leadership and clients, foster a positive work environment, and pursue business development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of project management or team lead experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation/GeoPak, In Roads, Land Desktop, Civil 3D, and MS Office.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, preferably in Nebraska or Iowa.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills; commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Preferred

  • Additional design experience, especially with NDOT and IaDOT design-build projects.
  • Proven ability to manage teams effectively.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000, based on experience and location.
