Job summary

HDR is seeking a Roadway Intern in Des Moines, IA. You will gain real-world experience by applying standard engineering techniques and assisting with the creation of reports, plans, specifications and calculations under the supervision of a senior engineer.

Qualified candidates are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program, with attention to detail and good problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Prefer 2+ years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
• Preference given to local candidates
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
• Attention to detail
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Responsibilities

• Gain real-world experience by applying engineering techniques and preparing technical reports, plans, specifications and calculations
• Work under supervision of a senior engineer to assist with detailed designs of roadway projects
• Connect with graduates and company leaders through mentoring and young professionals’ programs
• Participate in local community service events and activities
• Perform other duties as needed
