Job summary

Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Roadway Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Birmingham or Huntsville office. The successful candidate will assist in designing various roadway projects, including urban streets, rural highways, and complex interchanges. Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in engineering and familiarity with Microstation/Openroads software.

The role emphasizes collaboration with project teams and stakeholders to effectively address project challenges, along with obtaining the Engineer Intern certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering program.
• Engineer Intern / Engineering in Training Certification is preferred.
• Experience utilizing Microstation/Openroads software is preferred.

What We're Looking For:

Barge Design Solutions is currently seeking to fill the position of Roadway Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in our Birmingham or Huntsville office.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the design of a variety of roadway project types including urban streets, rural highways, bridge replacements, sidewalks and trails, complex interchanges, roundabouts and intersection improvements
• Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, and review agencies to help resolve a variety of complex problems
• Assists in the analysis, preparation or modification of technical reports, drawings, plans, specifications and permits for projects
• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
• Participates in project site visits with other project team members, as needed
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail
• Able to learn Alabama Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures
• Able to learn standard operations, policies and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industry

Education & Experience Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited program
• Engineer Intern / Engineering in Training Certification, preferred
• Experience utilizing Microstation/Openroads software, preferred
