Moffatt & Nichol, a leading U.S.-based global infrastructure advisor, is seeking a Roadway Engineer for our Richmond office (Fall 2026 / Spring-Summer 2027). You will join the Transportation Group as part of an integrated design team and develop designs, plans, estimates, and specifications under licensed engineers.

The role includes work on DOT highway design, city roadway improvements, bike/pedestrian facilities, rail projects, and potential national workshare.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 2-5 years of experience at an engineering consulting firm.
• Experience in transportation roadway design required.
• Experience with State DOT projects is a plus.
• Software experience: MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
• All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171.
• Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire.

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Roadway Engineer to join our Richmond office in Fall 2026, or Spring/Summer 2027. As part of the Transportation Group, the Roadway Engineer will be a member of an integrated design team, and will be responsible for developing project designs, plans, quantities, cost estimates and specifications while working directly under licensed Engineers. Projects will include DOT highway design, county/city roadway improvements, bike paths, pedestrian walkways, heavy rail and other transportation related projects. Position will also be part of national workshare and may have the opportunity to work on projects outside the local/state markets.

Working Conditions

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.

Base Salary Range

$38.00 to $49.00 per hour based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting the required qualifications in the job description. Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Virginia market.
