Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Orlando, FL is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4+ years of roadway design experience to join our Roadway team. You will collaborate with designers and engineers to develop detailed road projects from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license (or is on track to obtain within 12 months) and is proficient with Microstation and Open Roads. You will adapt to project needs, mentor junior staff, and contribute to client success while working on multiple projects.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of engineering design experience in roadway projects.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Proficiency in Microstation and Open Roads.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed roadway designs in collaboration with the design team.
  • Assist in project plans, feasibility studies, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare specifications for road construction and maintenance.
  • Create alignments for roads and intersections with safety considerations.
  • Obtain permits and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical oversight during construction and reviews.
  • Conduct inspections and quality control per design standards.
  • Incorporate stormwater and environmental considerations into designs.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules.
  • Engage with colleagues, jurisdictions, and contractors.
