Job summary

Egis, in partnership with Lochner, is seeking a Roadway Engineer to join our Kentucky team in Lexington. The role focuses on roadway and drainage design for KYTC projects, performing geometric design and preparing PS&E documents within state requirements.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Civil Engineering and 5+ years of roadway design experience; a PE license is preferred. Hybrid in-office work is supported, with KY residency highly preferred and MicroStation/OpenRoads skills valued.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • KY resident highly preferred; hybrid schedule possible.
  • 5+ years of roadway design experience on DOT projects.
  • KYTC experience preferred.
  • MicroStation required; OpenRoads Designer a plus.
  • Drainage and erosion control design experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design of roadways and drainage for KYTC with geometric roadway design and PS&E in accordance with state and local requirements.
  • Work within a team of roadway engineers on design and contract documents for transportation projects.
  • Manage and maintain project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and scope.
  • Collaborate with Lochner offices across the firm to deliver projects on time and within budget.

The Impact You'll Make


  • Design of roadways and drainage for KYTC (or other DOT clients) with the ability to perform geometric roadway design and assist in analyses, developing calculations, and preparing contract documents (PS&E) in accordance with state and local agency requirements

  • Working within a team of roadway engineers in the preparation of design and contract documents for transportation projects

  • Manage and maintain project documentation, including meeting project schedules, budgets, and scope

  • Adaptability to partner with Lochner offices throughout the firm through work-sharing to deliver projects on-time and within budget.


The Expertise You'll Bring


  • BS in Civil Engineering required.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred

  • Candidate may report in-office or work a hybrid schedule. KY resident highly preferred.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in roadway design and plan preparation on transportation projects for DOT clients.

  • KYTC experience is preferred

  • Experience in Microstation required and OpenRoads designer is a plus

  • Drainage, stormwater and erosion control design experience is a plus

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Traffic modeling, roundabout design, drainage design and/or highway lighting design experience is a plus
