Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Roadway/Drainage Engineer in Houston, TX to perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater drainage, floodplain studies, and roadway drainage within public infrastructure projects.

The role requires 5+ years in hydrology and hydraulics, a Civil Engineering degree, and preferably a PE license. Proficiency in HEC-RAS/HMS, SWMM, XP-SWMM, ArcGIS Pro and AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential. Competitive benefits and growth potential offered.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hydrology & hydraulics experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • PE license preferred or achievable soon.
  • Proficient in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, XP-SWMM, ArcGIS Pro and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with stormwater design, floodplain mapping and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiar with FEMA floodplain regulations and DOT standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for drainage systems and floodplain analyses.
  • Develop drainage reports, stormwater management plans and flood impact analyses.
  • Design stormwater conveyance systems including detention basins and culverts.
  • Use ArcGIS Pro, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, XP-SWMM, and AutoCAD Civil 3D for analysis.
  • Conduct floodplain mapping, risk assessments, and mitigation planning.
  • Collaborate with agencies, regulators and clients for approvals.
  • Prepare and review reports, plans, specs and cost estimates.
  • Support proposals, budgets and schedules; mentor junior staff.

Job Details
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater drainage systems, floodplain analysis, and roadway drainage.
  • Develop drainage reports, stormwater management plans, and flood impact analyses for transportation and other public infrastructure projects.
  • Design stormwater conveyance systems, detention basins, culverts, channels, and levees in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Utilize ArcGIS Pro, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, XP-SWMM, and AutoCAD Civil 3D for hydraulic and hydrologic analysis.
  • Conduct floodplain mapping, risk assessments, and mitigation planning using FEMA and NFIP guidelines.
  • Collaborate with public agencies, regulatory bodies, and clients to ensure project compliance and approvals.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Support senior project managers in developing proposals, budgets, and schedules.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in hydrology & hydraulics engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (or, if you've got the experience, then the ability to obtain in the near future).
  • Strong proficiency in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, and XP-SWMM.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with stormwater drainage design, floodplain mapping, and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of FEMA floodplain regulations, DOT drainage design standards, and municipal stormwater policies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and ability to work in a team environment.
