Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader to support and lead the technical delivery of highway design projects. This mid- to senior-level role stays hands-on while growing into broader leadership responsibilities.

The position can be based in Boston, MA; East Hartford, CT; or Manchester, NH with hybrid work flexibility. Responsibilities include leading design tasks from concept through PS&E, developing alignments and cost estimates, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead highway design tasks from concept through PS&E.
• Develop roadway alignments, design criteria, construction plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Provide day-to-day technical oversight to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
• Mentor and review work performed by junior engineers; provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Technical Leaders on complex DOT projects.
• Review designs for compliance with federal, state, and local standards; sign and seal documents as required.
• Perform site reviews and field studies to support constructible, real-world design solutions.
• Support proposal and task order efforts, including scope development and technical review.
