Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Roadway Design Project Manager in Troutman, NC to lead transportation improvement projects for public and private clients from planning through construction support. The role entails designing, directing, and coordinating deliverables across disciplines with a focus on quality, schedule, and budget adherence.

Requires ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering, NC PE, 5–10 years of roadway design experience, and proficiency in MicroStation/GEOPAK.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil Engineering.
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 5–10 years of transportation roadway design experience.
  • NC DOT roadway design experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and GEOPAK; OpenRoads a plus.
  • Knowledge of AASHTO and State DOT design standards.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented team player contributing to a positive work environment.

Description

As a Roadway Design Project Manager, you will play a key role in our organization, independently applying, planning, designing, directing, organizing, executing, and recommending related activities of various roadway improvement projects in the Carolinas. You will be involved in a diverse range of transportation-related projects for both public and private clients such as new location, widening, bicycle & pedestrian, highway safety, intersection, interchange, and design-build projects across all phases of a project life from advanced planning to final design and construction support.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include


  • Providing professional engineering design services for transportation improvements projects

  • Overseeing design development and production of construction details, plans, specifications, and estimates including detailed engineering calculations

  • Collaborating with clients, sub-consultant partners, technical staff, and managers across multiple disciplines to develop quality deliverables within schedule and budgetary requirements

  • Directing and mentoring design support staff

  • Conduct engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks including collection and analysis of data

  • Perform routine calculations, and participating in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions


What you'll need


  • Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil Engineering

  • North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • 5 - 10 years of transportation roadway design experience

  • NCDOT roadway design experience (preferred)

  • Proficiency in MicroStation and GEOPAK. OpenRoads experience is a plus

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of AASHTO and State DOT design standards
