Job summary

DRMP seeks a Design-Build Senior Project Manager to lead our Transportation Alternative Delivery Team on major highway design-build projects in North Carolina and across the southeastern United States. The role requires planning, execution, and completion of complex projects with on-time delivery and budget discipline.

You will guide multi‑discipline teams, mentor staff, and actively engage with clients and owner agencies to ensure high‑quality results. A $10,000 sign‑on bonus is available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Active PE license in North Carolina.
  • 10+ years of highway infrastructure design experience.
  • Experience in design-build project management.
  • 5+ years of NCDOT DB experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules and client relationships.

JOB DESCRIPTION

DRMP seeks a motivated Design-Build Senior Project Manager who will contribute to the growth and success of our Alternative Delivery Team. The role involves leading multi‑discipline engineering teams to deliver major transportation infrastructure projects in North Carolina and across the southeastern United States. Responsibilities include planning, execution, and completion of highway design‑build projects, ensuring on‑time delivery, budget compliance, and high‑quality standards. The position is eligible for a $10,000 sign‑on bonus.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project Planning and Development:
    • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
    • Lead the development of design and construction plans in collaboration with engineering and construction teams.
    • Identify and mitigate project risks.
    • Maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Assemble and lead high‑performing multi‑discipline project teams, including engineers, designers, and subconsultants.
    • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
    • Effectively communicate with clients, staff, management, and owner agencies.
    • Be available to work locally and across the southeastern U.S.
  • Client Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships as the primary contact for construction clients and owner agencies.
    • Manage client expectations and ensure client satisfaction.
    • Coordinate design‑build pursuits with contractor partners.
  • Contract Administration & Financial Management:
    • Manage project contracts, including change orders, claims, and dispute resolution.
    • Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
    • Manage subcontractor relationships and performance.
    • Monitor project costs and ensure adherence to budgets and deadlines.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Implement quality control measures to meet design and construction standards.
    • Identify and resolve quality issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum of 10 years of highway infrastructure design experience.
  • Proven experience in design project management, preferably for design‑build projects.
  • 5+ years of NCDOT DB experience.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and self‑initiative to meet client deadlines.
  • Detail‑oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
