Job summary

Trilon is seeking a Roadway Design Project Manager in Raleigh, NC, to independently lead roadway improvement projects for diverse clients. You will oversee design development for construction details, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor design support staff while ensuring project quality and deadlines.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, a North Carolina PE license, and 5–10 years of roadway design experience. We offer a competitive compensation package, relocation assistance, and excellent benefits.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of transportation roadway design experience.
  • NCDOT roadway design experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AASHTO and State DOT design standards.

  • Conducting engineering investigations and planning work, including data collection and analysis.

Job description

As a Roadway Design Project Manager you will independently apply, plan, design, direct, organize, execute and recommend activities for roadway improvement projects across the Carolinas for public and private clients. You will work on a diverse range of transportation projects, including new construction, widening, bicycle & pedestrian, highway safety, intersection, interchange and design‑build projects from advanced planning through final design and construction support.

Responsibilities
  • Providing professional engineering design services for transportation improvement projects.
  • Overseeing design development and production of construction details, plans, specifications, and estimates, including detailed engineering calculations.
  • Collaborating with clients, sub‑consultants, technical staff, and managers across multiple disciplines to develop quality deliverables within schedule and budgetary requirements.
  • Directing and mentoring design support staff.
  • Conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well‑defined tasks, including collection and analysis of data.
  • Performing routine calculations and evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science from an ABET‑accredited university in Civil Engineering.
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 5–10 years of transportation roadway design experience.
  • NCDOT roadway design experience (preferred).
    Proficiency in MicroStation and GEOPAK (OpenRoads experience is a plus).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of AASHTO and State DOT design standards.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and self‑initiative to meet client deadlines.
  • Detail‑oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
