Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Task Leader to guide highway design projects in New England, staying hands-on while growing into leadership roles. The role supports concept through PS&E with hybrid work options across Boston, MA; East Hartford, CT; or Manchester, NH.

You will mentor junior engineers and drive technical quality on multi‑discipline transportation tasks. Strong candidates have a PE license, 10 years of relevant experience, and expert knowledge of CADD, OpenRoads, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering.
• PE license required.
• 10 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of highway design tasks from concept through PS&E.
• Develop and review road alignments, design criteria, construction plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Provide day-to-day technical oversight to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and support.
• Collaborate with Project Managers on complex DOT projects.
• Review designs for compliance with standards; sign and seal documents as required.
• Conduct site reviews and field studies to support constructible design solutions.
• Support proposal and task order efforts with scope development and technical review.
