Job summary

Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Roadway Engineer-in-Training (EIT) for our Birmingham or Huntsville offices. You will assist in designing roadway projects, collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, and prepare technical reports and drawings using CAD software.

The role emphasizes learning Alabama DOT procedures and firm standards while supporting project delivery across urban streets and highways.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited program.
• Engineer Intern / Engineering in Training Certification, preferred.
• Experience utilizing Microstation/Openroads software, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of roadway projects including urban streets and highways.
• Collaborate with project teams, client representatives and review agencies to resolve problems.
• Prepare or modify technical reports, drawings, plans, specifications and permits.
• Use computer aided design software to prepare engineering documents.
• Participate in project site visits as needed.
• Learn Alabama Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures.
