The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer for advanced CADD-based design in Columbia. You will work under supervision to develop roadway and bridge design plans, perform hydraulic computations, and assist with design field reviews and right-of-way coordination.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of CADD and design software.
• Experience with stormwater and roadway design is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Perform advanced technical roadway design using CADD software following SC DOT, FHWA, and AASHTO standards.
• Assist in preparing plans for design field review, right-of-way, and construction.
• Use Rational Method and other methods to compute flood discharges.
• Develop stormwater management design studies by calculating pre- and post-development flow rates.
• Review survey data and plot topography, profiles, and cross-sections; design pipe systems.
• Research and verify right-of-way; design sideline and outfall ditches for capacity and stability.
• Determine superelevation and analyze culverts with appropriate programs.
• Plot cross-section templates and limits of construction; perform hydraulic design on simple bridges.
• Design sediment and erosion control devices; understand NPDES and permitting; integrate hydraulic design into plans.
• Prepare horizontal alignments for various roadway types; improve CAD skills.
• Attend design field reviews and interpret road/bridge plans.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
