Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer in the Transportation group based in Raleigh, NC. You will independently plan, design, organize, and recommend roadway design solutions for NCDOT, county and municipal projects across all design phases.

The role offers mentorship from senior team members and exposure to diverse project types including intersections, interchanges, and design-build initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
• Fundamentals of Engineering (EI) certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• 0–4 years of transportation design experience.
• Familiarity with NCDOT production procedures preferred.
• Familiarity with Bentley’s MicroStation and Open Roads Designer preferred.
• Detail-oriented team player with the ability to meet client deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design including horizontal alignments, vertical alignments, 3D modeling and cross-sections, pavement design, and temporary traffic control plans, quantities, and cost estimates.
• Prepare project documentation including Typical Section Packages, Pavement Design Package, Design Variations and Exceptions, Estimated Quantity Reports, and Project Meeting minutes.
• Assist Project Managers and Senior Engineers with roadway design task production and maintaining project documentation.
• Conduct engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks including collection and analysis of data.
• Perform routine calculations and participate in evaluating feasibility of alternate solutions.
