Job summary

The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer in Phoenix to lead roadway projects through all design phases, applying standards and independent judgment within defined limits. You will design and review plans, calculations, and specifications for public works, coordinate engineering reports, and ensure conformance with codes, schedules, and budgets.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
Two years of professional civil engineering experience.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain AZ registration within six months.

Responsibilities

Design, plan, and inspect components of roadway engineering projects.
Prepare conceptual plans, detailed plans, specifications, and estimates for public works construction components.
Coordinate/prep/review phases or components of projects per standards and codes.
Perform engineering analyses; evaluate design changes and recommendations.
Develop drafting plans and technical drawings; perform computing work as required.
Contribute to project design concepts and criteria; maintain project files and reports.
Review deliverables for scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
