Job summary

CBS² is seeking a Transportation Design Engineer to support Minnesota roadway and transportation projects from our Minneapolis office. The role emphasizes hands‑on design, plan preparation, and MnDOT‑aligned deliverables using OpenRoads Designer.

Ideal candidates will have a civil engineering degree and up to 4 years’ experience with roadway design, plan prep, quantities, and documentation. EIT/PE licensure path is encouraged and collaboration with PMs and staff is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 0–4 years in roadway design/transportation engineering.
• Engineer‑in‑Training or path toward licensure (EIT/PE).
• Experience with roadway design, plan prep, quantities, and construction docs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; strong Excel for quantities and docs.
• Ability to incorporate redlines, resolve comments, and support deliverables.
• Attention to detail, communication, organization, teamwork, problem‑solving.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands‑on roadway design work using OpenRoads Designer.
• Prepare and update roadway plans, profiles, sections, and exhibits.
• Support plan prep, sheet setup, redline incorporation, comment resolution.
• Develop roadway design components: alignments, corridors, surfaces, drainage.
• Assist with quantity calculations, cost estimates, and documentation in Excel.
• Apply MnDOT standards and project workflows to tasks.
• Coordinate with project managers, leaders, technicians, and staff.
