Job summary

The Commonwealth of Kentucky invites applications for a Highway Technician II in Spencer County. The role focuses on coordinating highway construction and maintenance projects, inspecting mowing and snow removal contracts, and monitoring equipment rental usage by contractors.

Ideal candidates will have eight years of construction or highway maintenance experience, a high school diploma, and a valid driver’s license with a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.

Qualifications

• EDUCATION: High school graduate.
• EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have eight years of construction or highway maintenance experience.
• Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, geology, earth science, industrial drafting, design technology, construction technology or a related field will substitute for two (2) years of the highway related experience in construction and maintenance. Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering will substitute for four (4) years of the highway related experience in construction and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment such as: a boom saw, excavator, or self-propelled paver.
• Complete daily inspection reports.
• Quality assurance inspector.
• Coordinate crew assignments.
• Train new employees.
