Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky seeks a Highway Technician Assistant I in Frankfort, KY to operate standard road maintenance equipment, perform snow removal, and spread salt as needed. The role requires physical ability, a valid driver's license, and within a year, completion of CDL training and safety certifications.

Overtime eligible; full-time with benefits. Responsibilities include flagging traffic, maintaining roadways, and assisting the transportation department in delivering a safe and efficient

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
• Within 12 months, furnish documentation that you hold a valid Class B commercial driver’s license.
• Must complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training and possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate basic automotive and power equipment used in road construction and maintenance.
• Use equipment to maintain roads and control vegetation along roads.
• Perform snow removal on highways and spread salt to prevent icing.
• Flag for traffic control and ensure safety around work zones.
