Job summary

State of Oklahoma seeks a Highway Construction Inspector I to oversee highway construction projects at District 3 Headquarters in Ada and the Purcell office. You will conduct materials sampling and field testing, and ensure work complies with contract documents, plans, and specifications.

You will collect field data, prepare inspection reports, maintain records in the Construction Management System, and communicate with contractors and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification in materials sampling and testing within 12 months of hire.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs sampling and field testing of materials used during construction projects, ensuring compliance with ODOT testing guidelines.
• Submits accurate test records and samples to the residency lab.
• Maintains current records in the Construction Management System and updates the system data.
• Inspects contractor’s work to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
• Communicates with stakeholders, such as businesses and landowners affected by the project.
• Maintains required documentation of project progress, including measurements and diary reports.
• Submits progressive estimates and time and diary reports.
• Operates agency-provided vehicles and other equipment safely.
• Conducts safety reviews.
• Resolves contract disputes and interpretation with contractors.
• Trains new employees.
