Job summary

Hanson is seeking a Roadway Engineering intern in the United States. You will assist in preparing plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates for roadways, urban and rural projects, under supervision from a Hanson PE.

You will use MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and AutoCAD/Civil3D, gather data, conduct field investigations, and support environmental and transportation studies. Strong communication and analytical skills, and MS Office proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Interns must be actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program.
• The ideal candidate will have successfully completed their sophomore year and be actively enrolled in a 4-year college or university.
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Preparing plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Gathering and/or providing data for the preparation of engineering or environmental reports and studies.
• Performing and/or reviewing calculations or reports such as those related to geometrics, transportation engineering, and quantities.
• Utilizing engineering software packages such as MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCad/Civil3D
• Conducting field investigations and/or survey assistance to gather information.
• Documenting and/or observing construction operations.
• Performing related duties such as writing memoranda, letters, or general reports; collecting and correlating engineering data; maintaining records; and attending meetings.
