Job summary

Arcadis in the United States is seeking a construction inspector to support project oversight on transportation projects. You will report to the resident engineer and perform inspection and quality assurance on roadway and bridge construction, ensuring work follows plans and specifications.

Qualified candidates have at least 1 year of construction experience, NCDOT inspection/materials testing credentials are preferred, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of construction experience.
• NCDOT inspection and materials testing (earthwork, asphalt, concrete, pavement preservation and Erosion & Sedimentation Control) certifications preferred.
• Experience with NCDOT construction procedures is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and favorable driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Report to the resident engineer and keep good communications.
• Provide inspection and quality assurance on roadway or bridge construction projects.
• Determine if completed work follows the plans and specifications.
• Coordinate work with the contractor and various public utility agencies.
• Maintain the records and reports related to the project.
• Coordinate directly with the general contractor and assist in negotiating change orders.
• Assist in inspections to assure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and special provisions
• Assist in the preparation of contract change orders, contract estimates, progress pay estimates, and other documents or reports required for the project.
• Coordinate the sampling and testing of construction materials to monitor compliance with contract specifications.
• Monitor and track contractor progress. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
• Coordinate with the project team, as well as the Construction Staking and Material Testing CMCs.
