Job summary

APAC Alabama, Inc., part of CRH’s South Division, is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Backhoe/Broom Operator to support construction, paving, and roadway maintenance operations. This position is responsible for operating backhoes and power broom equipment to perform excavation, trenching, material handling, site cleanup, and roadway sweeping activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment and a strong commitment to safety,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience operating backhoe equipment preferred.
• Experience operating construction sweepers or power broom equipment preferred.
• Experience in road construction, asphalt paving, utility work, or heavy civil construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate backhoe and broom equipment in support of construction and paving projects.
• Operate power broom equipment to clean roads, paving surfaces, shoulders, and construction areas.
• Remove debris, dirt, excess aggregate, and other materials to prepare surfaces for paving or project completion.
• Assist paving, utility, site development, and maintenance crews as needed.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew member, truck drivers, and other equipment operators.
• Assist with general labor duties when equipment operation is not required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
