Job summary

Sanders Brothers Construction seeks an experienced Milling Operator to support asphalt construction projects in the Charleston, SC area. You will operate milling machines (milling machine or cold planer) to mill asphalt and concrete to project specs and coordinate with site crews.

The role may require night and weekend shifts, a valid driver's license, and willingness to pass pre-employment drug testing and background checks. Safety compliance and proper equipment maintenance are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with construction crews with measurable production goals.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
• May be required to obtain DOT medical certification based on needs of position.
• Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
• Must meet SBCC's employment standards with regards to background checks.
• The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lift up to 25 pounds.
• Flexible availability to include overtime, possible weekends and nights.
• Work environments may include rain, extreme temperatures and loud noises.

Responsibilities

• Control and operate one or more types of milling equipment.
• Operate Milling Machine or Cold Planer to mill asphalt/concrete to specifications.
• Manipulate levers to control milling movements on roadways and related surfaces.
• Perform preventive maintenance on milling machinery as needed.
• Maintain equipment in good condition and report major problems to supervisor.
• Keep company vehicle, tools and equipment clean and report safety concerns.
• Comply with SBCC policies, procedures and safety requirements.
