Job summary

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is seeking a Roadside Technician to respond to tire-related failures for semi-truck fleets. Technicians are dispatched to customer locations to repair or replace tires, typically on an on-call basis, and may assist in shop duties when no service calls are pending.

No prior experience is required as training will be provided; candidates must meet basic requirements and be able to work nights and weekends with overtime paid at double-time during after-hours calls.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and meet commercial driver qualification requirements.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Servicing Commercial Tires including dismounting, mounting, and repairing any type of tire.
• Perform match mounting, match mating dual assemblies, and radial runout as necessary.
• Inflating of tires to prescribed PSI per load requirements.
• Complying with OSHA regulations and safety requirements including; how wear proper PPE, use tire cages, and follow all other safety policies and procedures.

Job description

The starting pay for this position is $16.50/hr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on factors such-as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. The role of the Roadside Technician position in our company can be broken down into one sentence: "An emergency response tire technician for semi-truck fleets". To elaborate a bit further; when a customer has a tire related failure, a Technician is dispatched to the customer's location to repair or change the tire. This means that a Technician is expected to be roadside when performing their job duties. During times when there are no service calls pending, Technicians will be expected to help mount orders, clean and organize the shop, and other general duties as needed.

Experience isn’t required for this position. You will be trained in any skills required.

Shift Information

There is a mandatory on-call rotation. During a Technician’s on-call period, they are expected to run after-hours service calls at a 95% Accept rate, which includes weekends and nights. Time worked in after-hours service calls are paid in double-time with a minimum of 2 hours per call! An example being if a Technician accepts, arrives, and completes a call in 45min they will receive an additional 1 hr. 15 min of double-time pay.
