The Roadside Service Tech I‑Tow is responsible for providing safe and best‑in‑class roadside solutions for AAA members while ensuring positive member experiences and meeting performance standards and member satisfaction rates. Tow technicians respond to member requests for service within a given ETA, ensure safety, educate members on possible issues, provide jump‑starts, replace flat tires, and perform minor mechanical assistance. They tow disabled vehicles to repair facilities or member‑requested destinations, promote AAA products and services, and ensure complete resolution of member issues.

Compensation

Pay range: $23.50 – $27.00 per hour. Base pay may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, shift differentials and experience. Employees may also earn annual bonuses, monthly or quarterly incentives, and participate in our award‑winning medical, dental, vision, wellness, and financial (6% 401k match) benefits.

Shift Differential

• Overnight shift (10 pm – 6 am): $2.75 per hour
• Evening shift (6 pm – 10 pm): $1.75 per hour
• Weekend hours: $1.00 per hour
• Differentials can be combined.

What You Will Do

• Accept calls and respond to Dispatch or members with ETA to destination. Locate members and greet them, managing their emotional state and providing reassurance.
• Assess the safety of the scene on arrival to ensure the vehicle is in a safe location.
• Provide efficient minor mechanical assistance (if trained) and towing service. Determine the best course of action based on all information and seek assistance if needed.
• Maintain AAA’s high standard of service and image by keeping the service vehicle and equipment safe, inventory tools, follow traffic and safety laws, and maintain a professional appearance.
• Operate the vehicle MDC computer to receive and update information regarding calls. Collect club revenue accurately and safeguard confidential information.
• Promote AAA products and services, including battery replacement, and coordinate with Dispatch to get members to their intended destinations.
• Work independently with minimal face‑to‑face contact, remain flexible and adapt to a variety of shifts in a 24/7 operation.
• Take special care to prevent damage and injury when securing towing points and responding to changing vehicle dynamics.
• Support fleet locations as required; work nights, extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

• At least 21 years of age.
• Post‑secondary training in automotive mechanics and familiarity with electrical troubleshooting preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Active, valid driver’s license issued by only one state or jurisdiction required.
• Must satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check during pre‑hire screening and periodically during employment.

Sign‑on Bonus Terms

• Any candidate who accepts a full‑time, regular job as a Roadside Technician with AAA Northeast before 4/30/26 will be eligible to receive a $2500 sign‑on bonus. This bonus will be issued in two installments: the first after successful completion of 3 months of employment and the second after successful completion of 6 months of employment. The bonus terms take effect on your first day of work.
