Job description

Roadside Service Tech Flatbed

Responsible for providing safe and best‑in‑class roadside solutions for AAA members while ensuring positive member experiences in a tow vehicle or flatbed vehicle. Flatbed Technicians respond to member requests for service within a given ETA, ensuring personal safety, member safety and vehicle security, educating members on possible issues, providing jump starts, replacing flat tires, presenting vehicle entries and other related services. They provide minor mechanical assistance (if trained and equipped) to get the vehicle on‑the‑go. If not successful, they tow disabled vehicles to repair facilities or other member requested destinations, promote AAA products and services, and ensure complete resolution of member issues.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $25.75 / hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, shift differentials and experience. Annual bonuses are offered to employees and certain roles are eligible to earn additional forms of compensation through monthly and/or quarterly incentives. Employees may also participate in medical, dental, vision, wellness, financial (6% 401k match) and other employee and membership benefits.

Shift Differential

Additional $2.75 per hour overnight shift differential for hours worked between 10pm and 6am. Additional $1.75 per hour evening shift differential for hours worked between 6pm and 10pm. Additional $1 per hour shift differential for working weekend hours. Differentials can be combined.

Shift

Wednesday‑Saturday 8:30am‑7pm

Responsibilities

• Accept calls and respond to Dispatch or members with ETA to destination. Locate members and greet them to address emotional states and handle technical aspects.
• Provide efficient minor mechanical assistance (if trained) and towing service, diagnose causes of breakdown, make preliminary determination of best course of action, and follow safety procedures.
• Maintain AAA high standard of service and image: keep the service vehicle and equipment in good working order, maintain inventory of tools and products, follow traffic and safety laws, project professional image, and operate vehicle MDC computer.
• Promote AAA products and services by educating members, referring calls to appropriate technicians, and coordinating with Dispatch.
• Work independently with minimal face‑to‑face contact, be flexible and adapt to a variety of shifts for 24/7 operation.
• Take special care to prevent damage and ensure vehicle safety during towing.
• Work under pressure in busy conditions with varying traffic and weather.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

• At least 21 years of age required.
• Post‑secondary training in automotive mechanics and familiarity of electrical troubleshooting required.

Licenses and Certifications

• Active and valid driver’s license issued by only one state or jurisdiction required.
• DOT card required pre‑hire and as a current employee within 1 year.
• Satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check during pre‑hire screening and periodically during employment in accordance with policy.
