Job summary

Wasatch County in Utah is seeking a journey-level equipment operator to perform skilled tasks in the operation and maintenance of light to heavy equipment for county roads and service systems. This position requires endurance and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather while prioritizing safety and quality of work.

You will operate road graders, dozers, loaders, excavators, and support crews, monitor flood channels, plow snow, repair potholes and signs, and assist in training others.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to a high school diploma and two years of road/construction experience.
  • Ability to operate a variety of heavy equipment safely.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy and medium equipment to construct, maintain, and repair county roads and systems.
  • Monitor flood control channels and clear debris; perform pothole repair, shoulder work, and gravel laying.
  • Inspect and operate trucks; assist in training staff and ensuring safety practices.
  • Perform as a flag person and support weed control, herbicide work, and vegetation management as needed.
  • Assist with signage, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting duties as required.
