Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in road and bridge construction engineering activities.
• Three (3) years experience in supervising a staff engaged in such work.
• Must be a registered professional engineer in the State of Michigan.
• May be required to provide and operate a motor vehicle on a reimbursed mileage basis.
• Valid State of Michigan Operator License required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees development and organization of multiple project files in conformance with MDOT protocols.
• Performs internal plan review for capital improvement projects.
• Oversees bid process and construction of capital improvement projects.
• Participates in budgeting of capital improvement projects.
• Directs support staff in control of project files and permits.
• Ensures departmental policies and standards are followed; authorizes variations when needed.
• Manages planning and implementation of capital improvement projects.
• Coordinates with other city departments, agencies and utilities.
• Represents department at meetings with other agencies.
• Interacts with the public to provide information on projects.
• Makes presentations to residents at public meetings.
