Job summary

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE), an Akima company, seeks an Electronics Technician to install and service DoD/DoS security systems across multiple sites, including substation facilities. The role emphasizes independent work with limited supervision, strict wiring practices, and NEC safety compliance.

You will travel up to 75–90% and may be based out of Colorado, Arizona, or Nevada, with a typical 4x10 schedule and travel on Fridays. A US citizen with a valid license is required.

Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a customer clearance.
• Current and valid Driver’s License; may be required to drive company vehicles.
• 2 years of hands-on experience installing IDS, PACS, IP video surveillance, and other security systems.
• High School Diploma or equivalent or military training with 5 years of technical installation experience.
• Experience with intrusion detection, access control, CCTV, and related security systems.
• Knowledge of DoD/DoS security systems and NEC-based installation practices.
• Ability to read schematics and maintenance manuals and use basic test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an Electronics Technician on projects, independently or with a small team.
• Migration, upgrades, and installation of physical security at substations.
• Install Electronic and Technical Security Systems per DoD/DoS guidelines.
• Read and interpret electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical schematics.
• Use test equipment such as multimeters and cable testers.
• Follow wiring guidelines and read blueprints.
• Work with NEC requirements and electrical safety practices.
• Maintain, install, troubleshoot, and test security wiring and power circuits.
