Job summary

You will assist with layout, assembly, and installation of structural steel components, using hand and power tools, welding equipment, and rigging gear. The role requires reading plans and blueprints, adhering to safety and quality standards, and collaborating with crew and supervisors to complete work on schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or equivalent on‑job training in ironworking.
• Minimum of 2–3 years experience in structural steel erection and welding.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
• Proficiency in reading plans, blueprints, welding symbols, and technical skills in fabrication, welding, and rigging.
• Knowledge of safety regulations related to steel erection and construction.
• Ability to work at heights and in varied weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with layout, assembly, and installation of structural steel components according to project plans and specs.
• Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and rigging gear to position and secure steel elements, ensuring proper alignment and fit.
• Perform welding and cutting operations, including stick welding, MIG welding, and oxyacetylene cutting, to fabricate and repair steel components.
• Interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and shop drawings to ensure accuracy and quality of welds and fabrications.
• Inspect rigging equipment and hardware for wear or damage and report issues to supervisor.
• Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training; report hazards or incidents immediately.
• Work collaboratively with crew, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely completion.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, foremen, and project managers for updates and concerns.
