Job summary

New England Truck Center is seeking a Road Service Technician to service trucks, trailers, motor coaches, and select heavy equipment. This hands-on role offers a 40-hour week, with weekend and on-call availability and commission-based earnings.

You will diagnose, repair, and service diesel vehicles in a fast-paced field setting, coordinating with Dispatch and Parts to ensure rapid, high-quality service. Strong problem-solving and tool proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

A valid driver’s license.
A current DOT Medical Card.
Strong experience using mechanical and electrical power tools.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Strong attention to detail.
Working knowledge of computers, diagnostic equipment, and related electronics.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently while staying connected with Dispatch and Management.
Weekend and on-call availability.
High school diploma or GED required.
Diesel engine repair training and/or certification preferred.
Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel-powered trucks and equipment.
Proficiency with diesel engine diagnostic software and equipment.

Responsibilities

Respond to service calls and diagnose, repair, and service commercial diesel vehicles and equipment.
Work closely with Dispatch, Parts, and Management teams to provide fast, professional, high-quality service.
Perform emergency roadside diagnostics, repairs, and service.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems quickly and accurately.
Perform brake, electrical, and tire repairs, including tire removal and installation.
Complete engine and powertrain repairs, ranging from minor repairs to more advanced work.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
Diagnose and repair A/C and emissions systems.
Obtain necessary parts when required and coordinate with Parts personnel.
Test-drive trucks and equipment when necessary to verify repairs.
Follow all company and industry safety procedures and protocols.
Maintain clear communication with Dispatchers, Parts Counter Specialists, customers, and Management.
Process customer credit card payments when required.
Handle customer concerns calmly, professionally, and efficiently.
Submit receipts, invoices, service documentation, and other paperwork promptly.
Keep assigned company service truck clean, organized, stocked, and ready for the next call.
Immediately report service-truck maintenance or equipment issues to Management.
Follow company accident and incident procedures when necessary.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Assist with additional duties as business needs require.
