Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a skilled Road Service Utility Truck Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel and gasoline vehicles like bucket trucks and dump trucks, ensuring safety standards and reliability in the field.

As a seasoned heavy‑duty mechanic, you’ll travel to project sites, perform preventive maintenance, and document work orders while upholding United Rentals’ safety policies. CDL with endorsements is required or must be obtained.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a heavy‑duty diesel or truck mechanic with buckets and hydraulic systems.
• Valid CDL with endorsements required or must be obtained.
• Experience with a wide range of utility equipment is a plus, including cranes and dielectric testing.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills; able to work independently or in a team.
• Commitment to safety and maintaining organized work environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel and gasoline vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and braking systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance like oil changes and tire service.
• Utilize diagnostic software and manuals to identify malfunctions and actions.
• Maintain service records and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Travel to client/project sites as needed and provide on‑site repairs.
