Job summary

Marten Transport, Ltd. seeks a Maintenance Coordinator to insure efficient and cost‑effective handling of trucks and trailers away from terminals. You will assist drivers in troubleshooting and authorize repairs while ensuring safe, on‑time deliveries.

This role requires knowledge of tractor, trailer and reefer maintenance, strong communication, and accuracy in data entry. A High School diploma and vocational training are preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge in maintenance for a tractor, trailer and reefer unit.
• Computer literacy and 10 key accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Atlas usage and telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

• Contact repair shops to determine when a shop can look at the equipment.
• Communicate with fleet manager as to what is happening with the equipment repairs and load status.
• Authorize necessary repairs on the road considering both safety and cost.
• Create purchase orders and provide necessary information for audit purposes.
• Administrate fleet data base by completing fleet assistance sheets and enter data into computer.
• Coordinate with other terminals for repairs by sending a Marten Transport mechanic to the sight.
• Contact repair shops to determine when equipment will be completed.
• Manage breakdown information by completing necessary paperwork.
• Communicate breakdown information to proper supervisors if necessary.
• Create and maintain repair order files.
• Direct all accident related information to Liability Claims.
• Monitor the retrieval of warranty parts to be returned to Marten Transport for warranty repairs.
• Authorize driver accommodations when truck is in the shop.
• Troubleshoot basic mechanical problems working through driver or road service at tractor location.
• Manage budget within required guidelines of cost and safety.
• Other duties as assigned.

ABILITIES/SKILLS DESIRED

Knowledge in maintenance for a tractor, trailer and reefer unit. Computer literacy, 10 key accuracy and the knowledge of the usage of an atlas and telephone etiquette. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED

High School diploma, one to two years vocational degree or equivalent desired.
