Job summary

Kiewit_Craft is looking for a capable Heavy Equipment Operator to operate power construction equipment to excavate, move and grade material on road and utility projects. You will load gravel, dirt and sand, smooth and grade surfaces, and help maintain equipment in a demanding outdoors setting.

The role may involve training other crew members in safe operation, reading and following instructions, performing inspections, and working long hours in varied weather while adhering to all safety rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, with prior field experience preferred.
• Must have working knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions; communicate effectively with supervision.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate various vehicles and heavy equipment to excavate, move and grade material.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts, water pipes and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain all fluid levels and lubrication on equipment.
• May train and instruct employees in safe operation and job techniques.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify causes of defects or issues.
