Job summary

The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is seeking a Road Maintenance Worker to join the Road Department. This full-time role maintains county roads and drainage systems and supports public safety.

Work hours are typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Starting annual compensation is $38,771 (Pay Grade 10A) with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement, holidays, paid leave, and health insurance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• More than six months of related experience preferred.
• Possession of a valid Georgia Class C driver’s license and acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic road repair and maintenance tasks.
• Performs grass cutting and tree trimming using tractors, trimmers, and edgers.
• Removes trash and debris from roadways.
• Assists in the installation and repair of pipes and other drainage structures.
• Performs traffic control and flagging activities as needed; follows safety rules and regulations on all work zone and flagging sites.
• Cleans and maintains assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment.
• Cleans and fixes roadway signs.
• Picks up parts and supplies, as needed.
• Transports voting machines to precincts during election season.
• Performs related duties.
