Job summary

County of Ventura is seeking a Public Works Maintenance Worker II/III to perform semi-skilled maintenance on roads and flood control facilities. Candidates should be adaptable, able to operate a range of hand and power tools, and capable of working in varied weather conditions.

The role requires a valid California driver license, with Class A endorsement potential. Training and advancement to PWMWIII may be available based on performance and department needs.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a current valid California driver license.
• Must obtain a Class A driver license with applicable endorsements; CDL program rules apply.
• PWMWII requires the equivalent of one year of general maintenance/construction experience.
• PWMWIII requires two years of maintenance/construction experience, at least one year at PWMWII.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled manual labor for road and flood control facilities.
• Use hand and power tools; operate motorized equipment.
• Paint road markings; install signs; repair bridges and guard rails.
• Operate backhoes, hydraulic lifts, pumps, and related equipment.
• May lead small work crews and assist with tasks as needed.
