POSITION OVERVIEW:
Pick up and deliver trailers between Service Centers and/or turn-point locations via tractor-trailer combinations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles (and triples, where applicable).
- Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
- Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
- Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
- Maintain accurate daily logs.
- Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
- Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch (e.g., delays, arrivals, equipment problems).
- May be required to perform chaining of vehicle tires.
- May perform duties of a city driver or dock employee as needed.
- Load and unload freight as required.
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, company policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements. Automatic transmission restriction allowed.
- Must have 1 year of recent experience or have completed the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
- Meet all DOT regulatory requirements under section 391 of the FMCSA regulations.
- Operate Long Combination Vehicles in specified states, meeting qualification standards.
- Basic communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to hook-up and break down trailers requiring about 100 pounds lift, multiple times daily.
- Ability to sit for long periods, bend, twist, squat, and climb in/out of trucks.
- Follow instructions and complete training.
- Work independently and in teams; demonstrate initiative and motivation.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Drive long distances in all weather conditions, day and night.
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials.
- Hours may vary; overnight stays may be required.
- The Hazardous Materials endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of employment.

Starting Rate: $31.00/hour
