The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting a Road Designer for the Billings District. This role conducts in-depth engineering and analysis, administers contracts, oversees project design, and may serve as a lead worker. Work is guided by established engineering guidelines, knowledge, and skills.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a combination of education and experience in civil engineering tech or design drafting.
• Experience using computer aided drafting and design (CADD) software packages.
• Progression through Designer I–III levels with increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth engineering analysis and design tasks.
• Administer contracts and oversee project design.
• Oversee projects and may serve as lead worker.
• Apply sound professional judgment based on guidelines.
