Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an RNFA (Nurse First Assistant) to support the Operating Room team at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey. The incumbent will assist under the primary surgeon, applying the nursing process to perioperative patient care and contributing to care plans in a leadership-focused role.

Requirements include NJ RN and APN licensure, a Master’s in Nursing, BLS/ACLS, and RNFA training or enrollment.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in New Jersey.
• Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• RNFA completion or enrolled in RNFA program upon hire.
• 1-2 years of recent adult or acute care with OR experience.
• Ability to establish positive, collaborative relationships with physicians, managers and hospital staff.
• Strong prioritization and multi-tasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist under the direction of the primary operating surgeon in the perioperative care of the patient undergoing a surgical experience.
• Use the nursing process in the formulation of the plan of care.
• Operate within facility policies and guidelines and report to OR Leadership.
• Exemplify leadership and professionalism in implementing the RNFA role.
