Job summary

Key responsibilities include implementing surgical procedures, evaluating patient care plans, and leading nursing processes. A $10,000 sign-on bonus for RNFA and $5,000 for CSTFA is available.

Job description

  • Experienced RNFA Sign On Bonus: $10,000

Job Summary

The RNFA practices in collaboration with and at the direction of the surgeon during the intraoperative phase where behaviors may include handling tissue, providing exposure, using instruments, suturing and providing hemostasis. The activities included in first assisting are further refinements of perioperative nursing practice. May serve in the role as scrub or circulator as necessary.

Job Responsibilities
  • Exhibits responsibility for departmental and personal work schedules.
  • Supports patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural and religious diversity.
  • Provides age-appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful, accurate and efficient manner to all populations.
  • Maintains current knowledge and practice of hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner.
  • Completes documentation accurately and in a timely manner, according to hospital policies and procedures to include computerized documentation and ordering.
  • Engages in activities to expand and/or enhance the professional nursing role, which includes integration of research and evidence based practice.
  • Provides leadership and autonomy in the professional practice setting and the profession.
  • Effectively utilizes the nursing process to ensure optimal nursing care and patient outcomes.
  • Assesses the patient’s initial and ongoing condition.
  • Formulates a plan and identifies individualized patient needs.
  • Facilitates interventions in accordance with patient’s established plan of care and provides appropriate nursing interventions for the patient undergoing surgical intervention.
  • Evaluates progress towards the attainment of the patient’s plan of care by constantly individualizing, updating and prioritizing the plan of care.
  • Follows policy and procedures for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization of scopes and instruments.
  • Follows policy and procedure for environmental cleaning and housekeeping.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of surgical anatomy and physiology and first assistant operative techniques related to the specific procedures in all specialty areas.
  • Implements surgical intervention and demonstrates knowledge, skills and manual dexterity to assist the surgeon
Qualifications

Education Level: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Graduate of an accredited program in surgical assisting that includes didactic instruction and supervised clinical learning activities or documented on the job training.

Certification/Licensure: Illinois licensed or eligible. CPR certification required. ACLS preferred or must be completed within one year. CNOR Required. CRNFA preferred.

Experience Requirements: Minimum three years scrub/circulator experience.
