Vertex is offering a 6-month Long Read Sequencing Co‑Op in Boston for students pursuing an advanced degree in Biological Sciences or related fields. You will work on meaningful sequencing projects, gain hands-on experience with Oxford Nanopore technologies, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive impactful research outcomes.

The program runs January–June 2027 with a paid internship at $35–$50 USD per hour, and applications close November 15, 2026.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Biological Sciences or related field.
• Enrollment in an advanced degree program if graduating before June 2027.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship for internships/co-ops.

Responsibilities

• Perform RNA sequencing and isoform analysis to characterize stem cells and pancreatic islets.
• Conduct plasmid integration analysis for development of antibody-producing cell lines.
• Direct RNA or cDNA sequencing to verify antibody sequences and support variant calling.
• Evaluate mRNA integrity and polyA tail characterization using direct RNA sequencing.
