Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a hospital-based Wound Ostomy Nurse in Erie, PA to serve as a clinical resource for acute and rehabilitative care with expertise in wound, ostomy, and continence care. This full-time role involves delivering care, education, and consultation across diverse patient needs and staff training.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s in nursing, 2–4 years of recent experience, PA RN licensure or eNLC, CPR certification, and preferably CWOCN.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
• 2–4 years of recent, relevant nursing experience preferred.
• PA RN licensure or multi-state licensure via eNLC required.
• Current CPR certification; CWOCN certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver care to patients with WOC needs.
• Maintain current assessment and therapeutic communication skills.
• Participate in committees related to wound, ostomy, and continence issues.
• Provide consultation for individuals with altered skin integrity.
• Guide staff in implementing protocols for skin breakdown.
• Provide appropriate debridement of devitalized tissue as ordered.
• Educate patients and caregivers on skin care and wound management.
• Validate pressure ulcer data collection for nursing quality indicators.
• Assess stoma and initiate appropriate procedures for stoma care.
• Identify risk factors for urinary or fecal continence disorders.
