Job Summary and Qualifications
- The Wound and Ostomy Center nurse is a licensed professional responsible for caring for patients with complex wounds, skin issues, ostomies, fistulas, or percutaneous tubes.
- Advocate for patients to achieve wellness and independence.
- Consult with the healthcare team on wound and ostomy management.
- Follow established policies to assess, treat, document, and educate patients, ensuring informed consent and safety.
- Coordinate outpatient and inpatient services, perform diagnostic assessments like ankle-brachial index, and employ infection control techniques.
- Monitor lab values, assist with procedures, and facilitate referrals.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families about care plans.
- Participate in quality improvement, education, and safety protocols.
- Maintain equipment, documentation, and confidentiality standards.
- Contribute as a clinical resource and participate in hospital committees and projects.
Qualifications Needed:
- Two to four years of wound and ostomy experience.
- Current RN license in NH or a compact state.
- BLS certification.
- Wound and/or ostomy certification (WOCN, CWCN, CSW, OMS, or WCC).
