Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks a Registered Nurse in the Women & Children Float Pool. This full-time role involves rotating shifts with a 0.9 variable schedule, floating to two units, and providing compassionate, patient-centered care with a focus on safety and education for patients and families.

Ideal candidates hold a BSN, Iowa RN license, BLS, and mandatory reporter training, with acute care experience preferred. Sign-on bonus available up to $15,000.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license or compact state license required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse & Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training completed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and clinically relevant information is communicated at handoffs to patients, families, and coworkers.
• Demonstrate competent assessment, planning, intervention, coordination and evaluation based on the patient plan.
• Continuously assess patient and family needs to provide patient-centered care.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and judgment for nursing interventions and procedures.
• Maintain real-time documentation of nursing care for healthcare team integration.
• Delegate to licensed and non-licensed staff as assigned and supervise appropriately.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team and address non-verbal cues and language barriers.
• Respond to emergencies within scope of practice and promote patient safety.
• Provide ongoing education to patients and families.
