Carilion Clinic in Christiansburg, VA, is seeking an RN for the Western Region Resource Pool (Days). This full-time position covers inpatient needs at CNRVMC and other Carilion facilities, with 7am–7pm shifts, every other weekend, and a rotating holiday schedule.

A $15K sign-on is available for experienced RNs and $10K for new grads. Travel may be required up to 50% while maintaining patient-centered care, safety, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program.
• Current registered nurse license in Virginia or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• AHA BLS-HCP required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required depending on work area.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to patients across all ages.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure safe, effective patient outcomes.
• Administer treatments and medications and document in EMR.
• Support education and orientation of new staff and participate in quality initiatives.

This position is based out of the Resource Pool at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) in Christiansburg, VA, but will cover inpatient needs at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC), Carilion Giles Community Hospital (CGCH) in Pearisburg, VA and Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital (CTCH) in Tazewell, VA.

This is a full time position working days, 7am-7pm and requires working every other weekend and participating in a rotating holiday schedule. Travel may be required up to 50% of the time.

The RN provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.

• Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
• Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records.
• Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs.
• Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
• Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
• Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic and changing care environments.
• Implements strategies to improve patient outcomes and resource utilization.
• Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.
• Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs.
• Supports orientation and training of new employees.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.

Experience: None.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records. For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.

Compensation Range: $33.52 - $50.28

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
