YOUR ROLE:
The Weekend Supervisor is a healthcare professional who leads and directs nurses, staff, and patients. They manage registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, and licensed practical nurses, as well as medical administrative personnel.
- Evaluating nurse and medical staff performance
- Maintaining and restoring the health of patients
- Managing daily treatment schedules
- Enforcing health and safety regulations
- Solving staffing issues and shortages
- Evaluating and adjusting treatment plans based on patient condition
- Ensuring the unit meets federal, state, and company guidelines
- Completing admission and discharge forms
- Delivering hands-on care and medication administration as needed
- Communicating procedural issues with the Director of Nursing and working to correct them
- Acting as a liaison between patients' families, healthcare staff, and treating physicians
- Maintaining accurate accounting records
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates ability to apply knowledge of a broad range of nursing experience to direct and assess the quality of care being provided to the residents and patients.
- Demonstrates the ability to work alongside and mentor/assist staff as needed in accordance with facility policies.
- Demonstrates the ability to assess the individual needs of the residents and assist in creating a care plan that addresses the needs and goals of each resident.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate the care plan to all care providers and staff to ensure effectiveness of the plan.
- Reviews, re-evaluates, and adjusts residents' care plans as needed.
- Participates in the completion of the MDS and quarterly assessments as part of the assessment of needs.
- Demonstrates the ability to take data documented and assessments obtained to make nursing diagnoses.
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain a working relationship and communication with other departments, medical providers, vendors, family members, visitors, and other staff.
- Utilizes all resources to ensure proper care and the highest positive impact on residents’ quality of life.
- Makes rounds on each resident as assigned, multiple times per day.
- Ensures each plan of care for each resident is followed.
- Participates in the QAPI (Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement) program and is able to apply processes to daily work and systems of the unit.
- Participates and attends meetings as directed by the DON.
- Ensures compliance of staff with policies and procedures.
- Assists with in-servicing of staff as needed.
- Provides professional guidance and knowledge to the Charge Nurse and CNAs.
- Fills in for the charge nurse in the event of staffing issues.
- Monitors systems of the unit to ensure quality of life for residents. These systems include: restraints, psychotropic use, infection control, medication management, documentation, and care plan compliance.
- Demonstrates accountability in preparing and staying in compliance with all state and federal guidelines and working to make corrections as needed or as directed.
- Participates in the plan of correction.
- Follows published guidance from the CDC and Department of Public Health regarding the current public health emergency.
- Overall organization of the assigned unit including, but not limited to, the coordination and completion of the following:
- Lab work coordination (routine, monthly, annual, stats).
- Intake and Output coordination.
- Physician appointment coordination including scheduling of appointments and transportation.
- Ensuring accurate documentation in accordance with state and federal regulation.
- Managing and assisting with unit staff break periods when needed.
- Monitoring medication administration time to remain within compliance time frames.
- Ensuring the completion of all assessments.
- Completion of admissions/readmissions.
- Auditing MAR, TAR, narcotic book signatures, CNA flow sheets, restorative sheets, I&O, weights, and monthly summaries.
- Assisting with maintaining accuracy of CNA assignments (shower list, feed list, assignment list).
- Ensuring organization of medication rooms.
- Completing reportable events and investigation follow-ups.
- Conducting medication error investigations and reports.
- Performing care rounds and care competencies.
- Conducting medical rounds with Physicians and maintaining Physician visits.
- Performing chart audits and reviews to ensure compliance with policy and procedure, state and federal regulations.
- Effective communication with DON/ADON/ADMIN/MED DIRECTOR.
- Assisting charge nurse in the completion of all scheduled/assigned duties of the unit (i.e. MD orders, appointments, fielding phone calls, documentation, treatments, medication administration, IV administration, etc.).
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor’s School of Nursing, or vocational nursing.
- Current state license as an RN.
- Proof of current CPR certification.
- Compassionate, friendly demeanor.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
