ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Director of Nursing in organizing and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing staff.
- Admit, discharge, and transfer patients as requested.
- Document and bill supplies used.
- Send patients to the hospital as necessary.
- Follow procedures if unable to reach a physician.
- Develop work assignments for unlicensed staff.
- Conduct compliance rounds and report issues.
- Maintain communication with attending physicians.
- Assist in care planning, MDS process, and committee meetings.
- Participate in patient screening and selection as requested.
- Monitor physician services in accordance with regulations.
- Follow up on consultant recommendations.
- Provide training for staff as needed.
- Complete patient documentation accurately and timely.
- Coordinate transportation and communicate with families.
- Demonstrate supervisory skills and ensure fair corrective actions.
- Provide reports and documentation to support departmental needs.
- Assist in staff hiring, screening, and maintaining personnel files.
- Respond to complaints and grievances effectively.
- Maintain inter-departmental communication and adherence to protocols.
- Stay updated on licensure standards and survey processes.
- Monitor and review nursing staff work for thoroughness.
- Ensure proper patient care and cleanliness through rounds.
- Coordinate patient care activities.
- Support nursing staff as needed.
- Implement education, infection control, and quality assurance programs.
- Promote the organization’s image through leadership and communication.
- Contribute to committees and projects.
- Perform other duties to support the organization’s success.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate warmly and professionally with staff, patients, families, and visitors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Nursing Degree from an accredited institution or graduate of an approved RN program.
Active RN License in Georgia.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees unlicensed nursing personnel.
