ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in organizing and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing staff.
  • Admit, discharge, and transfer patients as requested.
  • Manage documentation and billing supplies used.
  • Send patients to the hospital as necessary.
  • Follow procedures if unable to reach physicians.
  • Develop work assignments for unlicensed staff.
  • Conduct compliance rounds and report issues.
  • Maintain communication with attending physicians.
  • Coordinate care planning/MDS process and committee meetings.
  • Participate in patient screening and selection as requested.
  • Monitor physician services and documentation in accordance with regulations.
  • Follow-up on consultant recommendations (pharmacy, dietary, etc.).
  • Provide education for staff as necessary.
  • Complete patient documentation accurately and timely.
  • Communicate with physicians, arrange transportation, and contact families.
  • Demonstrate supervisory skills ensuring fair and consistent corrective actions.
  • Provide reports to support departmental updates and corrective actions.
  • Assist in interviewing, screening, and staffing processes.
  • Maintain personnel files including reference checks and evaluations.
  • Respond to complaints and grievances effectively.
  • Foster inter-departmental communication and positive relationships.
  • Monitor staff compliance with protocols and standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of licensure standards and survey processes.
  • Oversee nursing staff work for thoroughness and quality of care.
  • Make rounds to ensure proper patient care and cleanliness.
  • Coordinate patient care activities.
  • Assist nursing staff as needed.
  • Implement education, infection control, and quality assurance programs.
  • Promote the organization’s image through leadership and communication.
  • Participate in committees and projects.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Warm, friendly, and approachable demeanor when interacting with staff, patients, and families.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

RN degree from an accredited college or university or graduate of an approved RN program.

Active RN license in Georgia.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide oversight and guidance to unlicensed nursing personnel.
